Tea Legends

The Garden of Eden, Adam & Eve, the Big Boom, The Zuni “Talk Concerning the Beginning”; depending on your beliefs and opinions, any one of these could be considered legend. The truth probably lies somewhere in a combination of all of them. The beginnings of tea are as much a mystery as the beginning of the human race; there’s no one around that was an eyewitness.

It’s hard to trace the history of something as old as tea without visiting the legends and myths that have been associated with it. No one knows for sure how and when tea was first discovered. Perhaps it has been a food and beverage source since the human race began. Or was it really discovered by the real personification of Shennong or Bodhi Dharma?

The true and exact origin of this spiritual beverage may be lost in antiquity. Make up your own mind after you travel with me to ancient China and India to the time before our modern calendar existed, a time when legends were as real as the textbooks we use in our education system today.
